Choosing Between PPS and RevShare |

Adult affiliate programs tend to pay their commissions in four main ways, the most common two of these being either pay per signup (PPS), or Revenue Sharing (RevShare or Rebills). With PPS the affiliate receives a fixed one off payment for each sale. Typically this can be anything from 30 to 100% of the initial sale, or it may be a cash sum of anything up to $100. How can they afford to pay 100% or more? Well simply put a sponsor offering a high percentage PPS program is confident that once the initial sale is made that member will rebill every month and provide them with an ongoing income. For the affiliate, this is where revshare comes in.
Revshare usually pays the affiliate a lower initial commission, but then continues to pay that same percentage every time the member rebills. Potentially then, using revshare programs could bring a much higher income. Provided of course, that there is a good chance of subscribers rebilling for at least one more month.
Clearly then choosing the correct program can have a major influence on your income. The big question is, how to decide?

More often than not, setting up a new adult blog involves a number of link exchanges with similar sites to kick-start it's traffic. That's great for new blogs and sites, and if you follow the advice in our article 'The Art Of Link Trading' then you should benefit nicely from some extra traffic. But as your blog becomes established and more successful, you will start to find that accepting many of the trade requests you are offered is no longer viable. Why? Because your blog has either more traffic or more PageRank than those wishing to trade. In short, any links offsite become traffic leaks. One of the most appealing things about getting started in adult promotion, is that by using affiliate programs and one of the many free adult hosts out online, it is possible to start from nothing and with zero investment. I would say that nowadays most affiliates get started this way, and with this industry having such a steep learning curve it's the ideal way to 'try it and see'.
When you start to see some success though, you will find your online real estate begins to grow rapidly. Once that happens a little more flexibility is needed and the ability to have more control over what is happening server side becomes more important. Inevitably, you will find yourself shopping for virtual hosting.
